From: RAM <> "Mr. Mister" took a similar route in record making as did "The Police" which is contrary to what most other bands do. Unlike "Genesis" and "Yes" for example who started out progressive and became more pop as time went on, "Mr. Mister" and "The Police" started out pure pop and became more progressive album after album. This was probably the reason for their demise. Finally, you can see where Sting is today. The drummer is writing operas, and the guitarist was recording with Robert Fripp. As far as I know, Mr. Mister only recorded 3 albums, so their transition from pop to more-progressive was quick. The second album was the successful one which has "Broken Wings" and got the most radio play. That's where I started listening to them. I think it's a terrific album. In fact, I think it's about as perfect a CD as one can make, even if you don't like the music on it. The production quality is great, the playing, the singing, and everything else about it just admirable. I can say this because I also try to record. After album #2 I bought album #3 and then #1. Album #1 took me by surprise because of its pure pop nature. After I listened to it a dozen times or so, it grew on me and I could still hear the talent, the heart and soul these guys put into making the album. In conclusion, I am forever a Mr. Mister fan, and if I had lots of money, I would try to help them produce more records for nothing in return.
