> I've just been listening to No Self Control by Peter Gabriel...
Larry Fast played the "synths & processing" on PG's song No Self Control. I would guess he's partly (if not greatly) responsible for what your hearing. Also Robert Fripp played the "Guitar - Burst", John Giblin is credited for the bass and one of my favorites, Kate Bush, sings. Tony Levin plays the stick on a number of songs on the record, but not on this song (according to the album jacket).

> Along with Talking Heads and Byrne/Eno I reckon Peter Gabriel's 3rd album needs to be considered a seminal work in the reshaping of prog, coming out of the punk/new wave period.
Oh, absolutely. This was the highlight release 19 years ago, and the shows were wonderful! Intruder, Games without Frontiers, Live a Normal Life... Fripp AKA Dusty Rhodes was no longer by Gabriel's side, but the whole production was a masterpiece! The snippets of brilliance evident on the first 2 solos were in full flower here, and to a large extent on the follow-up in '82... but that foray into world beat eclecticism is another story. I was fortunate to catch the first few tours, and 1980 was the most impressionable show by far. I have a number of videos all of which feature Gabriel with a quite young looking band all in B/W costumes- the natural extension and fruition of the 'Rael' persona... take another listen for sure!
