FM Reviews

I would love to see Canada's FM 'Surveillance' issued on CD, one of my favorite Prog albums of all time, lots of keyboards/electric violin/mandolin I must have listened to this album at least once a week for the last 20 years (Yes, I have been listening to Prog rock for a longgggg time) Well, I could not resist! I am listening to it at this very moment, 'Horizons' is masterpiece and so is 'Father Time', I think a couple of tracks made it to their compilation 'Introspective' or 'Retrospective' or whatever, but the whole album deserves to be issued.

Great band! I saw them about 5 times '79-'80, and a reunion show with Nash the Slash in '83. Cam Hawkins was amazing to watch live, doing great vocals, keyboards and bass simultaneously. I wish there was a video- at least I have the '79 radio broadcast and a mono CBC promo of early versions of Surveillance tunes. I also have the Direct to Disc and the interview disc accompanying the "City of Fear" LP. I'd love to get the CD or CDR of Black Noise!

>BLACK NOISE is out on the One Way label, I think. Anyway, The Artist Shop has it listed. I would like to see CITY OF FEAR out on CD, too. There is an FM Web site, but the data on it was real stale (like 1996) the last time I looked...
There is also an unofficial FM web site that is a little more current. It was updated Dec 98. Lots of good info on FM at <> I am on the FM mailing list and haven't seen a post in many months. I'd like to see Ben Minks solo album Foreign Exchange released on cd. Everyone in FM plays on this album. Lots of mandolin acoustic guitar and violin. I've only seen this on vinyl once which is the copy I own. I have the whole FM catalog on vinyl including 2 different copies of Direct To Disc. One copy has the title as Headroom. as far as I know the only albums on CD are Black Noise, Tonight (With bonus tracks from Con-Test) and Retroactive recorded live.
