Enchant are a San Francisco 'melodic prog' quintet of vox/gtr/bass/keys/drums,
quite dissimilar to Magellan, and a great band overall. Most seem to agree
that the strongest point of the band is drummer Paul Craddick, who's simply a
fantastic skinbeater. The vocals are definitely in the Steve Walsh/John
Elefante (read: Kansas) school, and their music has acquired a harder edge as
of late. Begin with their Magna Carta debut CD, "A Blueprint of the World,"
or the superb "Time Lost." They also have "Wounded" and "Break" which reveals
them focusing a tad more on the 'metal' in prog-metal, versus 'prog,' as with
"Blueprint" or "Time Lost."

Enchant are a band I have heard a lot about, but never had the chance to hear
until now. My first impression was very good. My first thought were that they
sounded like Rush, but as I listened through the album I found that it wasn't
the whole truth. There's also reminiscences to Dream Theater, Lucifer Was,
Marillion, Spock's Beard and 80's Yes here and there. Their song-oriented
music is somewhere between melodic mainstream rock, AOR, Prog Metal and
progressive rock, with a modern sound and strong compositions. The vocals are
a blend of Neil Morse (Spock's Beard) and Steve Hogarth (Marillion) and
therefore very good. There are
plenty of reasons to chant for Enchant! -Reviewed by Greger R?nqvist-
