Biglietto Per L'Inferno Reviews

From: Jeff Marx <>
Biglietto Per L'Inferno--Self-Titled (1972...Vinyl Magic, 1993 reissue) Yet another 'classic' album for the Italiprog enthusiast, this band plays a heavy, complex blend of prog that almost never lets up on the intensity level! Featuring dual keys, flute, and some mean guitar work, this six-piece flash their brilliance through ever-shifting time signatures, as different instruments dart in and out of the mix. There are the requisite passages where the moogs and hammonds wail...joined by delicious guitar and spirited flute playing, which then suddenly shifts to quieter piano and string synth sections...only to be thrust back up into overdrive with all the players swapping lead time...I wonder if these guys inspired Solaris' sound at all? Sounds like a possibility to me. The vocals in Italian are a great compliment to the instrumentation, never stepping all over the sound, but rather going wherever the mood of the piece demands. A very solid 38 minutes of vintage Italian Prog, I want more like this one!
